What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

How does Reiki work?

Reiki works by channeling universal life force energy through the practitioner to the recipient. The practitioner acts as a conduit for this energy, allowing it to flow through their hands and into the recipient’s body. This energy helps to balance the recipient’s energy centers (chakras) and promote healing on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels.

What can I expect during a Reiki session?

During a Reiki session, you will typically lie fully clothed on a massage table while the practitioner places their hands lightly on or near your body in various positions. You may experience sensations such as warmth, tingling, or relaxation during the session. Each session is unique, and the experience varies from person to person.

Is Reiki safe?

Yes, Reiki is considered to be a safe and non-invasive healing modality. It does not involve any manipulation of the body or the use of any substances, making it suitable for people of all ages and health conditions.

What are the benefits of Reiki?

Some of the potential benefits of Reiki include stress reduction, relaxation, pain relief, improved sleep, emotional balance, and enhanced overall well-being. It can also complement traditional medical treatments and support the body’s natural healing process.

How many Reiki sessions do I need?

The number of Reiki sessions needed varies depending on individual goals and needs. Some people may benefit from a single session for relaxation and stress relief, while others may choose to incorporate Reiki into their regular wellness routine with ongoing sessions.

Can I have Reiki remotely?

Yes, Reiki can be performed remotely, also known as distance healing. In distance healing, the practitioner connects with the recipient energetically from a distance, allowing Reiki energy to flow to them regardless of physical location.

Is Reiki a religious practice?

Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or belief system. As it works with the universal life force energy that permeates all living things, it’s considered a spiritual practice. However it does not require adherence to any specific faith or dogma.
